Marine Microplastics Recovery Project

Building a ship that collects Marine Microplastics and runs!

Marine Microplastics are affected not only marine ecosystems but also humans!

Currently, it is said that more than 8 million tons of plastic waste flows into the ocean every year.
Plastic waste will become microplastics with a size of 5 mm or less. Primary microplastics are small plastics such as facial cleansers and toothpastes. Secondary microplastics are discarded plastic products crushed by ultraviolet rays and waves. There is a concern that if marine microplastics are swallowed by fish and shellfish, the fish and shellfish themselves become harmful and cannot be eaten. And the most troublesome thing is that the microplastics are too small to be collected.

We will invent a flocculation and magnetic cyclone structure and aim to collect microplastics. We would also like to consider the possibility of using WTE to generate electricity from the collected microplastics and running a ship on electric power. The ship that collects marine plastic, which is a major issue for the global environment and human food, and runs on sustainable energy. We would like to create a future where this ship can be used for cruising the beautiful sea.
